Decision cases

Compare two or more named alternatives with shared assumptions and a deterministic cash forecast. Use the case to challenge the plan. Decised does not approve it.

Templates are editable placeholders, not official statistics. Confirm every figure before you rely on a forecast. Opening cash stays missing until you enter it.

How to start

Signed-in users open Decision cases from the header or from Home. The hub always offers three starts, even when the list is empty:

Use the cafe example, copies a curated starter (stay employed vs open a cafe, 24 months) into the workspace you have selected. Figures stay placeholders until you confirm them.
Start a blank case, a three-step form: the decision, named alternatives, then a reminder that template numbers are placeholders.
Start from a saved report, open My reports, then create a case. Nomis and ONS cells attach as evidence only. They never become cash assumptions.

What a case contains

Decision question and named alternatives
Assumptions (revenue, costs, staffing, and related inputs)
Attached evidence and “what to learn next” notes
Forecast / simulation outputs from versioned domain code

How to use the case page

The page is a journey, not a kitchen sink. Read it in this order: orientation (question, horizon, and a single next step), alternatives (side-by-side assumptions; missing stays missing), forecast (run forecast, then an unranked comparison and cash chart), what to learn next, then advanced tools (uncertainty, evidence pack, region, buffer, seed, draws, and correlation) which stay collapsed until you open them.

Replace illustrative defaults with quotes. Leave unknowns blank. Alternatives currently share case-level location fields; a dedicated compare-locations journey is not in this release. Closing cash is a line per alternative. Sensitivity uses horizontal bars. Comparing two stored runs uses a dumbbell. Uncertainty can show a p5–p95 band when those percentiles exist. Alternatives are not ranked.

An approval or proceed stamp
A shared success probability with place reports or register-survival research
LLM-calculated financial rankings
