City reports
Logged-out visitors can open an approved set of frozen city snapshots. Pages are pre-generated from public datasets and are not recalculated on each visit.
What is on a city page
- Population and year-on-year change, with ONS vintage
- Official all-industry registered-enterprise total, density, and year-on-year change, with Nomis vintage (total cell, not the sum of rounded SIC sections)
- Largest SIC sections by enterprise count as a horizontal bar (not a recommendation of what to start)
- On /cities, a lollipop of registered-business density across published profiles, not a ranking
- Coverage notes and source limitations beside the figures
- A landmark photograph of that city, with a region caption (for example Leeds · West Yorkshire). The photo is decorative, not evidence, and does not enter a score
- A prompt to run a guest preview of another search, or create a free account for the full report
Immutability
City reports are served from frozen snapshot files with a freeze date. Updating the underlying Nomis or ONS extracts does not change a published city page until snapshots are regenerated and redeployed.
What is not included
Crime, news, OpenStreetMap venues and cash forecasts stay behind a free account. Searching another place without an account returns a minimum public preview rather than a full report. Property search is not on the city snapshot page; it is a separate mode from the homepage composer. Same-industry concentration is registered-business presence, not demand, footfall, spend, or competitive intensity.
Where to find it
Open /cities or the City reports link in the header when you are signed out. Home also lists the same approved snapshots. Public profiles stay on /cities and in the city list further down the page.
