About

About Decised

Decised helps you research a UK business idea or location before you invest. It is a pre-commitment workspace, not a plan writer, credit tool, or approval service.

The problem we address

Most people still decide from a spreadsheet, a walk of the high street, and informal advice. Official UK business and population data exists, but it is scattered across Nomis, ONS bulletins and local authority pages. Forecasts often mix observed counts with guesses without labelling either. Gaps get filled with midpoints instead of staying visible.

Decised brings district-level context, user assumptions and explicit missing cells into one structured place so founders and the people who advise them can challenge a plan before savings, a loan or twelve months of effort are committed.

What Decised is

A UK business research and decision workspace built around evidence classification. Every value is labelled as a user fact, user assumption, unverified evidence, observed benchmark, model estimate or derived calculation, with source, geography and data year where applicable.

  • Public city evidence profiles for selected local authority districts: registered-business counts, population, density and leading sectors from frozen Nomis and ONS snapshots.
  • Custom searches (free account) by business idea, location or Companies House number, saved as immutable reports.
  • Decision cases that place two alternatives, for example employment versus self-employment, beside a deterministic 12–36 month cash forecast.
  • Workspaces (Beta) for advisers and founders to share cases while collaboration behaviour is being validated.

Who uses it

Founders researching where or what to start; business advisers and accountants reviewing a plan; lenders who need local context beside a spreadsheet; franchise buyers comparing territories; programme managers supporting cohorts; property advisers briefing clients on district register counts; educators teaching market sizing with real UK sources.

See audience pages under Solutions for how each role typically uses the product.

How we are different

General business guides and template market-research packs rarely cite data year, geography or what a district count cannot imply about demand. Enterprise data vendors sell footfall, spend and credit signals we do not use in this release. Decised stays on public UK statistics and your own inputs, with limitations stated plainly.

  • No proceed, do not proceed, approved or safe verdicts.
  • No personal success probability or city “winner” rankings.
  • Crime, news and map venues stay descriptive; they never enter a decision score.
  • Missing data stays missing. Saved reports do not silently refresh from latest data.
  • Register-survival research models stay gated until an explicit release gate passes.

Data and methodology

City profiles and custom reports draw on Nomis UK Business Counts, ONS population estimates, ONS business demography where shown, and other sources listed in our public register. Financial forecasts run in tested deterministic code, not through an LLM.
